Troubadours & Vagabonds Productions is hiring a Research Assistant through the Canada Summer Jobs program to support a range of cultural research, mapping, and project coordination activities across Quebec.

This is a 12-week, full-time summer position (30 hours/week) for a student or early-career professional interested in the arts, community development, and cultural strategy.

The role offers hands-on experience working on projects that support artists, presenters, and cultural organizations in building stronger connections with their audiences and communities.

About the Role

The Research Assistant will support cultural research, data organization, and project coordination for consulting and touring development projects.

A key focus of the role will be contributing to a project mapping and strengthening touring pathways for artists across Quebec, with an emphasis on English-speaking and bilingual communities.

This is primarily a remote position, with occasional in-person meetings or site visits.

Position Details

  • Title: Research Assistant – Arts & Culture
  • Location: Quebec (remote, with occasional in-person activities)
  • Duration: 12 weeks
  • Hours: 30 hours/week
  • Start Date: June 1, 2026 (flexible depending on program requirements)
  • Compensation: $17/hour
  • Eligibility: Must meet Canada Summer Jobs criteria (aged 15–30 and legally able to work in Canada)

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct online research on arts organizations, venues, festivals, and cultural initiatives
  • Compile, verify, and update organizational and contact data
  • Organize and maintain structured spreadsheets and databases
  • Summarize research findings into clear, usable notes
  • Assist in preparing materials for meetings and consultations
  • Track project tasks, timelines, and progress
  • Support the development of cultural mapping and touring network resources
  • Draft basic communications such as outreach emails and contact lists
  • Organize digital files and documentation systems
  • Assist with report preparation and internal documentation
  • Participate in team discussions and contribute observations
  • Attend occasional meetings, site visits, or cultural events
